On my way to Missouri!!

Elder Butler gave us another surprise phone call from the Salt Lake City Airport at 7:20 this morning.  He was waiting for his flight and was given permission to call home for a few minutes while he was waiting.  He is excited to be flying again, and excited to see his new area and meet his new companion.  Alex said that he has learned a lot about the gospel these past 12 days that he has spent in the MTC.  The thing that Alex has learned most in his time in the MTC is that if you keep yourself close to the Savior, that when you speak to others about the gospel, the right words just come out without trying.  He said the food in the MTC is tastes good but that his stomach didn't always agree with him.  He has become close friends with the Sisters from the MTC that are also going to the Missouri St. Louis Mission.  He and his companion are traveling with them today.  He said that he had a lot fun in the MTC with the other missionaries, especially with his companion Elder Alston.  They stayed up late last night while packing their things and practiced their silly English accents.  It was so nice for us to hear from him.  He was able to speak with all of us, even Grandpa Jesse.  We can't wait to hear from him next week all about his new companion, Mission President, and what area he will be serving in first.

So happy to hear from all of you!

I really loved seeing the pictures of my sisters that were sent to me. I hope they had fun during Christmas. I'm sorry that I am not able to send pictures back, the computers here are locked up tight and they wont let me send many pictures right now.  I think that is really great about Rose and her father. I just hope that the missionaries are teaching her about the atonement not just the diagram. I hope that Josh gets to exercise his priesthood and baptize her! Talk to you all next week!

Sincerely Elder Butler

My call home for Christmas 2014

Here in the MTC my schedule is very hectic and changes everyday. All of my time is full with no time to lounge around. I have gained many wonderful insights about the gospel that I did not know before going on my mission. My teachers are very cool and one of them served in the St. Louis mission and says its the best mission. My companion is from Mesa AZ and is a very laidback guy. I enjoy all the food at the MTC especially the Salmon! I have had the chance to do service by helping to clean up in the residence. I am really looking forward to hearing Elder Russell M. Nelson talk to us tonight in the MTC!!!! I have not had the chance to go to the Temple since being in the MTC because the Provo temple is closed at this time. I was so happy to talk with my siblings, parents and my Grandma Price today. Love to you all.

Calling on Christmas!!

We received a short message from Alex today and we're happy to report that Alex will be able to call home on Christmas!!  We weren't sure because the mission handbook had stated not to expect any calls home from our missionary while in the MTC.

Me walking into the Missionary Training Center in Provo Utah.
Me and My Mom April Butler before leaving the house.
My grandmother Arlyce Price, Brother Joshua (the next one to go on a mission), Brother Benjamin, Mom April Butler, Sister Abigail, me, My Sister Evelyn and my Dad Larry Butler posing for a picture before I board the plane from Canon City Colorado to Salt Lake City Utah.
Goodbye mom and dad! Off to Provo Utah to enter the Missionary Training Center for a few weeks. It was sad to say goodbye especially to Abby my youngest sister, but I know that my family and I will be blessed for my service.
